MACHINE READABLE PASSPORT RENEWAL

      Instructions for Printing Passport Forms
  1. Recommended paper for printing the forms is 20lb – 24lb
  2. Print the forms using an 8 1/2” x 14” setting and print on Legal size (8 1/2” x 14”) paper
  3. Print on both sides of the paper


   
    
PROCEDURE FOR THE RENEWAL OF THE MACHINE READABLE PASSPORT
  • Drop-off facility will be available Monday to Friday except on Public Holidays.
  • Renewal application forms must be thoroughly completed and contact information must be provided.
  •  Documents to be submitted:           
    Completed renewal application form
    One (1) legal sized (8 1/2" x 14") manila envelope
    One (1) passport sized photograph (see specifications below)
    Photocopy of the bio-data page of current passport
    Evidence of payment
  • Payment for renewal applications must be done prior to the application being submitted.
  • Applications must be submitted on the same day that payments are made.  Failure to comply with this stipulation will result in an extended period for delivery.
  • The renewal cost of the machine readable passports are as follows:
    $250.00TT (ordinary passport)
    $350.00TT (business passport)
  • Payment can be made by the following options:
    Via linx or cash at the POS, San Fernando and Tobago Offices
    Via Linx at the Sangre Grande, Chaguanas and Point Fortin Offices

    ia cash payment by voucher at the District Revenue Offices in Sangre Grande, Chaguanas and Point Fortin (this is relative to applications being submitted in these areas).
    Credit Card payments are not accepted.
  • Applicants who have changed their name either by Marriage or by Deed Poll must submit the original supporting document along with a photocopy. These will be returned upon delivery of the new passport.
  • Children under 16yrs of age will require a live photo capture. This is in keeping with the International Civil Aviation Organization’s (ICAO) specifications; as such an appointment for renewal is necessary.
  • Applications for Lost, Expedited and Emergency passports cannot be facilitated through the drop-off process.
    An appointment is not required to access the drop-off facility.
   
 
Photograph Specification

Portrait Quality

  1. The portrait shall be not more than 6 months old.
  2. The face should take up 70-80 percent of the vertical dimension.
  3. Portrait should be in sharp focus, of high quality with no crease of ink mark.
  4. Portrait should show applicant looking directly at camera.
  5. Portrait should be in color, it show skin tone naturally.
  6. Portrait should be on high quality paper with high resolution.
  7. Portrait taken with digital camera should be at high quality and resolution and be printed on photo quality paper.
  8. Portrait size must be at least 41mm x 31mm.
  9. Portrait should show a close-up of the applicant’s head and top of the shoulders.

Portrait Style and Lighting

  1. Portraits should show applicant with eyes open and clearly visible.
  2. There should be no hair on forehead or obscuring the eyes.
  3. Applicant should be shown facing square to the camera not looking over one shoulder (portrait style).
  4. Applicant’s head should be upright so that an imaginary horizontal line drawn between the center of the eyes is parallel to the edge of the picture.
  5. Both edges of the face should be clearly visible.
  6. BACKGROUND SHOULD BE WHITE.
  7. The lighting should be even, with no shadows or reflection on face.
  8. There should be no red eye.


Glasses and Head Covers
Glasses: 

         Glasses are not acceptable in the portrait.

Head Covers: 
         Headdress shall be accepted only in keeping with religious customs or for medical reasons.

Expressions and Frames
  1. The portrait shall show the applicant alone with no other person, chair-backs or toys visible.
  2. The applicant shall be looking at the camera with a neutral expression, (no smiling) and their mouth closed.      

Facial Markings and Piercings
There shall be NO markings, tattoos or piercings on any part of the applicants face as to obscure an even appearance on the  portrait.
